Drone Regulations in South Africa

Are drones legal to fly in South Africa?

Yes, since 1 July 2015, drones have been legallyoperable under the South African Civil Aviation Regulations, as specified inRegulation 101.01.4, applicable for both hobbyists and commercial users.

Ease of Flying a Drone

Is it difficult to fly a drone?

Not at all! Today's drones are designed for ease of use with features like automatic take off, landing, and autonomous navigation. They're equipped with electronic gyros to stabilise in various conditions, and they can autonomously return to their take off point if they fly out of range or if the battery runs low.

Warranty Information

What kind of warranty is offered with a drone?

Each drone, battery and controller includes a 12-month warranty, and 6 months warranty on gimbals.

Operating Conditions

What weather conditions can I fly my drone in?

Drones are quite resilient and can be flown in diverse weather conditions. We advise starting in calm weather and gradually exploring more as your confidence grows.

Do I need Wi-Fi or a cellphone signal to fly my drone?

No, flying your drone does not require Wi-Fi or a cell phone signal.

How does the auto-return home function work?

The auto-return home function is activated under conditions like low battery or loss of signal, ensuring the drone’s safety by guiding it back to its launch point.

'Lead time' indicates the estimated duration until a product arrives at our warehouse and is available for delivery.
